Graphology is the study of handwriting in order to figure out a person’s psychological qualities. There is no scientific evidence to support graphology, and it is often regarded as a pseudoscience or a scientifically dubious technique. However, it is still widely used in France[2][8] and has been declared legal in various court decisions in the past. Because portions of the latter dealing with the inspection of handwritten papers are frequently referred to as graphanalysis, the word is sometimes used mistakenly to refer to forensic document examination.

While graphology did not become a scientific discipline, many experts in experimental psychology and psychiatry were involved in the effort to study graphology within a broader, more recognised science of expression, according to Schlicht, an academic historian, and that “to qualify something as pseudoscience can thus easily result in an unsystematic examination of a historical constellation of knowledge production.” For more than a century, graphology has been a source of contention. Although proponents cite anecdotal evidence of favourable testimonials as justification for using it for personality assessment, scientific investigations have failed to back up the validity asserted by proponents. It’s also been named one of the top five most discredited psychological exams by mental health specialists.
