The technique of attributing significance to dreams is known as dream interpretation. There is no convincing evidence that understanding or interpreting dreams has a good influence on one’s mental health, despite the fact that it is related with several types of psychotherapy.
People seem to feel that dreams are more significant than equivalent waking ideas: they attach greater significance to dreams than to similar waking thoughts. People say that if they had a dream about their plane crashing the night before, they would be more inclined to cancel a trip involving a plane fly than if the Department of Homeland Security issued a federal warning.
People, on the other hand, do not value all dreams equally. When it comes to interpreting dreams, people tend to utilise motivated reasoning. Dreams that support their waking views and goals are more likely to be relevant to them than dreams that contradict their waking beliefs and wants.
