Hypnotism, or hypnosis, refers to a state of highly focused attention with heightened suggestibility and deep relaxation. It can be induced by a trained practitioner. Altered consciousness increases receptivity for suggestions in those who may experience alterations in perception, memory, and behavior.
Hypnosis is primarily applied therapeutically for:

The technique is more apt to be an influential verbal guidance in that the practitioner leads the person into hypnosis by instructions in relaxation techniques and suggestions. They will remember being in the session. In hypnosis the person remains aware of their environment but often has a significant recall of their experience after the hypnosis session is concluded.
Notably, hypnosis is not mind control; in its nature, it cannot compel a person to do anything against his will. Hypnosis differs from one human being to the next; most of the time, it is utilized as complementary treatment with other forms of therapy.
